TGP Philosophy
The Growing Place is committed to providing a positive, safe and stimulating environment that supports families and children while in our care. Children have every opportunity to learn and grow. Our quality care facilitates the healthy growth and development of each child. We are committed to providing a high quality, multicultural, inclusive early learning program for all our children, in a nurturing environment that is respectful of each individual child’s needs.
Based on the work of theorists Jean Piaget and Lev Vygotsky, our philosophy is attributed to the knowledge that children learn best through play, which is accomplished through hands on opportunities for learning alongside peers, adults, materials and our community at large. Through play, your child is best able to explore their world, to learn and to grow. Our skilled Early Childhood Educators have designed a child oriented and developmentally appropriate curriculum set in an atmosphere of mutual respect. Our emergent curriculum begins with careful observation of the children’s interests, experiences and activities. Their interests and questions become the organizing theme for the open-ended planning. Our curriculum is responsive to the children. We believe every child has the right to participate, while having their individual intellectual, physical, emotional and social needs met. Our program encourages independence, social interaction and creativity; it enhances self-esteem and stresses health, nutrition and safety.
Our goal is to provide a place where children know that they are accepted, loved, protected and wanted; helping to encourage each child by promoting a strong sense of self-esteem and confidence. We want each child to have numerous positive experiences and interactions throughout each day. Our Educators are well-trained, nurturing and loving individuals who are working for a stronger future for each child. Our program focuses on each child as an individual, encouraging autonomy and independence in a group setting.

TGP History
The Growing Place has been providing childcare for over 30 years. We are a well established centre with strong ties to the local community. The centre was first created in 1989, and through the hard work of many people, and the love and support from local parents, the centre has grown into the successful facilities that exist today.
